The Needs Improv-ment go-to starter game for newbies. Players make up a story, line by line. Try to give the next line such that it is coherent with the rest of the story. Players should have the sense of when to close the story on their own.

May be played as a 'Die' game, where host may pick a player to give the next line and if they don't give it on time, they will be out for the rest of the game.

Warm up game where you pass someone an imaginary bag, they make up something to pull out of it, and you have to explain why you got it for them before they pass the bag to someone else.

This game is best played with 1 response per thread.

Players perform a scene, but may be interrupted by the host at any time to provide a 'new choice' to replace their last dialogue.

Same as the 'Number Of Words' game. Game for 3 players, where each of them is restricted to either 1, 3 or 5 words.

Game for 3 players. Two of them are restricted to two lines each (as given to them by the host/audience), and the third player leads the scene accommodating the other two restricted players.

Two players are the two heads of one person, and they will alternatively say words to form a complete sentence. Scene between the two-headed person and another player.

A game format where the first line of the scene may start with a letter given as a prompt by the host/audience, and the lines after should follow the alphabet and start with the next letter. After 'Z' comes 'A'. Usually done till the host calls the end of the scene or one cycle of alphabet is completed.

Game for 4 players. 2 players put up a scene but they can only talk in gibberish, while the other 2 players serve as translators, one for each of the performing player. The job of the translator is to 'translate' the gibberish and give meaning to the scene.

Need's Improv-ment Host's attempt to create an improv game. Scene game with setting of a household inspired by the kids game of 'playing house', i.e. acting as if they're members of the same household and perform related actions. A trigger event is provided to the players, on which they have to respond to the trigger as if that just happened in their scene.

Game for multiple players (3 is a good size)

Players are the heads of the same character - an expert in a field suggested by the audience. The heads say one word at a time to try to form cohesive sentences, as the multi-headed expert gives advice to questions posed to them by the audience.

Similar to: Two-Headed

Game for 3 players. The audience provides questions or problems for which they need advice, and each player takes on one type of advice - either good, bad or ugly. The bad advice should be worse compared to the good one and the ugly advice should be even worse. Players can take turns at each kind of advice.

Players perform a scene based on an audience suggestion in which they append 'if you know what I mean' at the end of their dialogues to make an innuendo out of what they just said.

Sub-boards: First Line, Last Line, Improv Stand Up

Players perform a scene, but may be interrupted by the host to either fast-forward or rewind (by a specified amount of time), following which the players pick up the scene from that point of time in their setting.

Note: Remote Control is a better name because
1. the host's commands may be understood as those on a remote,
2. game not to be confused with 'Forward-Reverse'.

Game for 2 players. Players perform a scene, but may be interrupted by the host to either

- 'Reverse': the action and the lines of dialogue will go in reverse
- 'Forward': players continue from the announced point of time (they may have to repeat older lines of dialogue in the same order of what was previously said)

Tips:
- easier to play if the dialogue is kept to a minimum
- actions may help remember dialogue, and serve as a great gimmick when performed in reverse

2 actors start an improvised scene. At any point in time another player can call 'Freeze'. This player then tags out one of the 2 actors, and takes his place. Both players then start a new scene, justifying their positions.

2 players perform a scene. After every line of dialogue, either the other player or another person 'off stage' (I call it a 'narrator') may state the action the player is performing.

P1: "I want a divorce"

P2 (or 'narrator'): "She said, while grabbing a knife from the kitchen table."

At this point player 1 needs to take a knife.

P2: "Sure Honey"

Now, it's quite clear that player 2 should be paying more attention to the paper than to his wife.

P1: "You're not listening to me"

and so on...

A 'Jeopardy' style quiz game format where players provide the questions instead of the answers.
Same as 'Question This!' from Drew Carey's Improv-A-Ganza

A blind date show format where one player 'seeking out a date' gets to ask other players questions to find out what are the characteristics endowed to them, as suggested by the audience. For example, player 1 is Batman, player 2 is a serial killer and player 3 is 'slowly turning into a zombie with time'. After asking these players questions, the aspirant should try to guess what each player is.

Medium long form game for multiple players (4-10 is a good size).

Audience suggests a fake movie name. 2 players act out interview style bits as the reviewers. As the movie is discussed, players can cut to play parts of the movie.

Players are restricted to the number of words they are allowed to say in each of their dialogues. May be played as a 'Challenge' game, in which players go 1v1 and perform a mini scene till one makes a mistake or the host calls the end of the scene.

Game for multiple players (4-6 is a good size).

One player is the host of a party, and has invited the other players who have quirks (assigned by the audience) that the host doesn't know about. Throughout the game, the players will enact the party scene while the host tries to guess the quirks assigned to the other players and then sends them off.

Similar to Press Conference and Let's Make A Date

Game for multiple players (3 is a good size)

Players go one after the other doing mono-scenes, as if they were talking to someone in a phone booth. When the host calls to "switch", the next player resumes, with their first line being the last line from the previous phone booth.

Similar to: First Line Last Line

Similar to 'Let's Make A Date', but "reverse". One player is given an endowment by the audience, and the other players act as journalists in a press conference, asking questions to figure out what is the endowment.

Players put up (mini) scenes in which they can only talk using questions. Players step out for the ones on standby if they make a mistake (buzzed by the host).

Players come up one by one and deliver punchlines based on the audience suggestions. Common examples are - The World's Worst, Sex With Me Is Like, Things you can say to __ but not your __ etc.

Players come up with punchlines or enact 'The World's Worst ___', where the prompt is whatever can fill the blank (can be verbs, hobbies, occupations etc.)
